In follow-up to my post, here is a link to the video of the actual ad now airing on Belgian TV.

As Matthew said in his comment, this is airing after 9pm so as not to traumatize children. So kids, don't watch.

Damn! This is truly traumatizing!
But as you said, maybe the public has truly become so complacent with all the disasters happening all over the world that it needs such a reality jolt.

Know what I did the other day? I was in the process of saying something to my mother who was sitting in front of the TV when suddenly she told me to be quiet because they were announcing on the news that a dreadful earthquake had taken place in Pakistan.
I'm ashamed to say that I told her, "Oh, come on, it's just another earthquake!" before carrying on with my petty conversation. I mean, thousands of people had died and thousands more were suffering and I just brushed it off with a few self-centered words.

Mr. "Me", I really hope you won't 'recall' me back too soon for this! (ok, feeble attempt at a joke :)
