Screw. You.

You worthless talking pile of human excrement.

The only reason Israel hasn't toppled your palace over your head is because they know you are too spineless to ask for anything but to be left at the helm of a rotting regime of fear and death.

I will watch your own countrymen drag you into the street and stomp your cowardly corpse into a pulp.

That day of reckoning is near.

Until then you can carry on being this guy...

Once the change occurs, and it will, the benefits will not be felt only by the Strian people but by the whole neighbourhood.

How do you think the change will occur? I assume that this Assad, like the last one, is still willing to play by the Hama rules.

Ghandi could lead a non-violent revolution against the british because - in the end - they had a deeply ingrained sense of morality and right and wrong. Washington could lead an armed revolution against the british because he lead a population fighting on its home ground against an army that needed to be resupplied from across the sea (and because of french support).

I don't see a popular revolution sweeping syria any time soon, since Assad is ruthless (so non-violent protests won't work) and because his army has all of the advantages (knows the terrain as well as any revolutionaries, has control over the weapons, etc.)

I wish I could be as optimistic as you, but I can't, not on this issue.

Yaser,

I'd be very happy to see it, and would do everything I could to support it (though as an American Jew, I guess the best thing I could do is stay away so nobody gets accused of being a tool of the Americans or Jews :( ). But like I said, I'm not optimistic.

i am french, i support liban because in this country they are all brothers and they don't care about the religion. i support also israel and jews because they suffer too much.

i am sure liban and israel can live in peace, and i am sure palestinians can find an other way to reach what they want and one day it will be possible to share the country with equity.

the real problem for the moment is iran throug syria. if the united nations do nothing and leave syria and iran growing it will be a disaster. it s like leaving a wolf eating until it become stronger and dangerous. we have to be very fast, each day it grows.

Ramzi, i heard about your blog in a french paper. thanks.

i find your comparison of bashar to alfred e neuman very offending. Alfred is an upstanding hard working well dressed well bred self made individual albeit not the brightest lamp in the chandelier. Bashar el Asad is ... well ... Bashar el Asad.

The Alawite Regime in Syria is more commonly but wrongly known under the name of the Baath regime. This terminology is wrong since the idea of the Arab Baath died with its founder Michel Aflaq a long time ago. All what is left is a gang of criminals and sectarian haters. Here are the six main points against this despicable regime. This regime is guilty of high treason because:1-it sold the Golan toIsraelin exchange forLebanon2-it allied itself with the Persians in the Iran-Iraq war (1980-88) against the Arabs3-it declared war on the Palestinian cause and on the Palestinian people, and it committed war crimes and massacres against them inLebanon4-it brutally occupiedLebanonfor 30 years and committed mass murder and massacres against the Lebanese population5-it leftSyriain a state of under-development and mass poverty6-and above all, it ruled the Syrian people with the armored fist for more than 35 years by filling the concentration camps of Tadmour and Mazzeh. All while committing acts of mass murder, annihilation (Hama1982), atrocity, rape, torture, and mass deportation against anyone who dared to speak up against their absolute rule.
