How do you think the change will occur? I assume that this Assad, like the last one, is still willing to play by the Hama rules.
Ghandi could lead a non-violent revolution against the british because - in the end - they had a deeply ingrained sense of morality and right and wrong. Washington could lead an armed revolution against the british because he lead a population fighting on its home ground against an army that needed to be resupplied from across the sea (and because of french support).
I don't see a popular revolution sweeping syria any time soon, since Assad is ruthless (so non-violent protests won't work) and because his army has all of the advantages (knows the terrain as well as any revolutionaries, has control over the weapons, etc.)
I wish I could be as optimistic as you, but I can't, not on this issue.

I'd be very happy to see it, and would do everything I could to support it (though as an American Jew, I guess the best thing I could do is stay away so nobody gets accused of being a tool of the Americans or Jews :( ). But like I said, I'm not optimistic.

i am french, i support liban because in this country they are all brothers and they don't care about the religion. i support also israel and jews because they suffer too much.
i am sure liban and israel can live in peace, and i am sure palestinians can find an other way to reach what they want and one day it will be possible to share the country with equity.
the real problem for the moment is iran throug syria. if the united nations do nothing and leave syria and iran growing it will be a disaster. it s like leaving a wolf eating until it become stronger and dangerous. we have to be very fast, each day it grows.
